Amalgame | Installation, performance dansée | Installation, performance, dance | 2013
Les mouvements et les sons ayant été enregistrés, la performance une fois terminée, les deux silhouettes lumineuses s'animent toujours dans le cube de LED, à la cadence des respirations.
This performance utilizes a system that, through the use of Kinects, remotely transcribes the movements of two dancers into a LED cube (1m x 1m x 1.5m). Within the restricted space of the cube, the two silhouettes are led to merge and blur, ultimately striving toward the possibility of becoming one. The dancers are guided by an interface that assigns movement scores based on the synchronization of their breath: the more they coordinate their breathing, the more similar their assigned movements become, and vice versa. Each occurrence of the performance thus differs according to how they collectively negotiate their rhythms and breathing rates while interpreting the scores.
Once the live performance concludes, the recorded movements and sounds allow the two light silhouettes to continue flickering within the LED cube, animated by the cadence of the breath.
