À la croisée du jeu vidéo et de la télé-réalité, Avatar est un dispositif technique, juridique et pratique prenant la forme d’un contrat et de différents manuels d’utilisation. Il offre la possibilité à deux individus ou plus d’utiliser une tierce personne comme une interface avec des environnements distants. fleuryfontaine a réalisé plusieurs performances en appliquant ce dispositif : diplôme de 3ème année en école d’art, vernissages à l’autre bout du monde ; leurs différents Avatars se sont présenté·es en public comme le duo « fleuryfontaine », réuni en une seule personne.
At the intersection of video games and reality TV, Avatar is a technical, legal, and practical apparatus consisting of a contract and various user manuals. It offers two or more individuals the possibility of using a third party as an interface with remote environments. fleuryfontaine has carried out several performances applying this framework: a third-year art school diploma defense, and exhibition openings on the other side of the world. In these instances, their various Avatars presented themselves in public as the "fleuryfontaine" duo, unified into a single person.
